The Repto Water Dripping Tree mimics the way many tree-dwelling reptiles drink in the wild. The built-in pump draws water from the reservoir to the top of the drinking tree, where it drips down over the artificial leaves. For many animals, the moving water droplets are more visible and recognizable than still water in a traditional drinking bowl.
Repto Water Dripping Tree as a drinking station for chameleons and geckos
Many tree-dwelling reptiles look for rain and dew drops on leaves and branches in their natural habitats. Chameleons, in particular, are known for not always easily recognizing still water as drinking water. Day geckos and various other climbing reptiles can also be encouraged by the sight of moving water droplets.
The Repto Water Dripping Tree creates a permanent drinking spot in the terrarium. The artificial tree has various leaves through which the water slowly trickles back down. This allows your pet to reach the droplets from different heights and encourages natural drinking behavior.
Adjustable water flow with integrated pump
The base of the drinking tree contains a reservoir with a capacity of 2,500 milliliters. The included pump ensures that water flows continuously through the system. The flow rate is adjustable, allowing you to tailor the amount of water to the size of the terrarium and your pet’s behavior.
It’s best to start with a gentle stream of water. The droplets should be clearly visible, but they don’t need to flow forcefully over the leaves. A stream of water that’s too strong can cause agitation and increases the chance of water splashing around the drinking tree.
Difference Between a Drinking Tree and a Humidifier
A drinking tree and a terrarium humidifier each serve a different purpose. The Repto Water Dripping Tree provides visible water droplets from which an animal can drink directly. A humidifier produces a fine mist and is primarily used to increase humidity.
The drinking tree is therefore not a substitute for a humidifier when a species requires consistently high humidity. Conversely, a humidifier does not always produce enough visible drinking droplets. In a tropical terrarium, both systems can complement each other. Always check the humidity separately using a digital hygrometer.
A Natural Look in a Tropical Terrarium
With a total height of 51 centimeters, the drinking tree is a striking yet functional part of the terrarium decor. The tree’s shape and leaves complement a tropical setup featuring cork, vines, and live or artificial plants.
Place the Repto Water Dripping Tree in a stable and easily accessible spot. For a chameleon or gecko, it’s important that there’s a safe climbing route to the leaves. Strategic placement among branches and vegetation helps the animal easily find the drinking spot without having to cross an unnatural open space.

Hygiene and Safe Use
Because the water is recirculated, regular maintenance is important. Feces, live feed, substrate, and plant debris must not enter the reservoir. Change the water daily and clean the reservoir, pump, tubing, and leaves regularly. This prevents the buildup of dirt, limescale, and a bacterial biofilm.
While using the Repto Water Dripping Tree, check to make sure the pump remains fully submerged and can flow freely. Do not let the pump run dry. Furthermore, the drinking tree does not automatically replace any other drinking water source. Keep an eye on whether your pet is actually drinking from the leaves, and, if appropriate, also provide a clean water bowl or additional misting sessions.
Instructions for use
Rinse all parts thoroughly before first use and fill the reservoir with clean, fresh water. First, set the pump to a low flow rate and check where the water runs along the leaves. Place the power cable safely out of the animal’s reach and prevent water from running along the cable to a power outlet.
Change the water daily and perform a thorough cleaning regularly. Do not use cleaning products that may leave harmful residues. Observe your animal’s drinking behavior and adjust the placement or water flow if it has difficulty finding the drinking fountain.
