Repto Digital Thermo Hygro

The Repto Digital Thermo Hygro measures the temperature and humidity in your terrarium using two separate probes. The clear digital display shows the current readings and stores the minimum and maximum values recorded. This makes it easy to monitor the climate for bearded dragons, leopard geckos, snakes, frogs, and other inhabitants of desert, steppe, or tropical terrariums.

Description

The Repto Digital Thermo Hygro is a digital thermometer and hygrometer that allows you to monitor both the temperature and relative humidity inside the terrarium. The device uses two separate probes: one for temperature and one for humidity. This allows the digital display to remain safely outside the enclosure, while the sensors inside the terrarium measure the conditions.

Repto Digital Thermo Hygro for a controlled terrarium climate

Temperature and humidity are among the most important factors in any terrarium. The correct conditions vary greatly by species and even between the warm, cool, and humid zones within the same enclosure. With this digital thermo-hygrometer, you can monitor both parameters on a single, easy-to-read LCD screen.

With a bearded dragon or leopard gecko, for example, you’ll want to be able to check that the dry area doesn’t accidentally become too humid. For tropical geckos, frogs, and other rainforest inhabitants, however, sufficient humidity is crucial. For snakes, such as corn snakes or ball pythons, reliable measurements also help you better adjust heating, ventilation, and misting schedules.

The meter does not control the climate on its own. It shows you the actual temperature and humidity levels so that you can adjust the heating, ventilation, humidification, or interior settings in a timely manner.

Two separate probes for temperature and humidity

The temperature and humidity probes are placed in the terrarium using the included suction cups. This allows you to deliberately choose the measurement points. Place them in the zone where you want to monitor the conditions, and not directly against a heat lamp, heating mat, spray nozzle, or water bowl.

The digital display should remain outside the terrarium. You can place the device on its built-in stand or mount it on the wall using a suitable screw. This ensures that the display remains easy to read and that the electronics are better protected against moisture and curious terrarium inhabitants.

For larger terrariums, consider using additional thermometers to monitor both the warm and cooler zones. A single measurement point does not automatically provide a complete picture of all temperature variations within the enclosure.

Easily View Minimum and Maximum Values

The memory function lets you view the highest and lowest measured temperatures and humidity levels. This is useful when you want to check what happened at night, while you were away, or between two watering cycles. By reviewing these values regularly, you can identify unwanted fluctuations more quickly.

The display also shows a general comfort indicator. When humidity is below 50%, “ DRY ” appears; when it is above 70%, “ WET ” appears; and when it is between 50 and 70%, “ COMFORT ” may be displayed if the temperature is also within the set range.

These guidelines are general indicators and do not constitute care advice for a specific animal species. Low humidity may be suitable for a desert reptile, while the same level may be unsuitable for a tropical frog. Therefore, always monitor your own pet’s climate needs using the Repto Digital Thermo Hygro.

Features of the Repto Digital Thermo Hygro

In addition to the measurements, the device features a clock, date display, and adjustable alarm. You can choose between a 12- or 24-hour display and between degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit. The alarm can, for example, help you not to forget fixed check, feeding, or spraying times.

Measuring the climate for popular terrarium pets

For a bearded dragon, the hygrometer helps monitor the general air temperature away from the direct basking spot. For a leopard gecko, you can compare the dry environment with the air around the moist hiding spot. For tropical geckos, poison dart frogs, and other amphibians, the hygrometer shows how quickly the humidity drops again after misting.

For hoses, the thermometer provides insight into the temperature gradient between the warm and cooler sides. Additionally, use a suitable infrared thermometer to measure the surface temperature of a sunbathing spot; an air probe does not replace a surface measurement.

Instructions for use

Place the screen of the Repto Digital Thermo Hygro outside the terrarium and attach both probes inside the enclosure using the suction cups. Keep the device and sensors out of reach of the animals and protect them from direct spray water. Check the values daily and compare them with the needs of your specific species. Clear the memory periodically to reliably track new minimum and maximum values.
