No-Mite

No-Mite is a natural product based on diatomaceous earth and herbs, designed to control mites in fruit fly cultures and animal enclosures. The fine powder damages the mites' protective outer layer, causing them to dehydrate. When used correctly, it is suitable for regular application around cultures of feeder insects. Content: 500 grams. At Biotopo, we consciously choose No-Mite exclusively.

No-Mite against mites in fruit fly cultures

No-Mite is a natural powder for controlling various types of mites in fruit fly cultures, breeding areas, and suitable animal enclosures. Mites can multiply rapidly and severely disrupt a healthy culture of feeder insects. The risk of a mite infestation increases, particularly during warm periods.

An infested fruit fly culture yields fewer feeder insects and can eventually collapse completely. Furthermore, mites can easily spread to new cultures via containers, hands, tools, and shelving units. No-Mite helps combat existing mites and, when used correctly, reduces the risk of them being transferred to a new culture along with the fruit flies.

Natural action of diatomaceous earth and herbs

The main ingredient is diatomaceous earth, also known as diatomite. This natural, extremely fine mineral powder mechanically damages the protective outer layer of mites. As a result, the mites lose moisture and dry out. The product therefore works without a traditional chemical pesticide.

Carefully selected herbs have been added to the diatomaceous earth. The sharp, herbal scent helps keep mites at bay, thereby supporting the mineral powder’s effectiveness. This combination makes the product suitable for use around fruit fly cultures and in other areas where mites cause problems.

Why No-Mite is practical for growers

The powder is easy to use and can be applied directly to fruit flies before transferring them to a new culture. The fruit flies are coated with a thin layer, while any mites present come into contact with the powder.

In addition to treating the fruit flies themselves, you can also lightly dust the dry shelf or surface where the culture jars are kept. This helps prevent any remaining mites from reaching a new fruit fly culture. Since diatomaceous earth absorbs a lot of moisture, old powder must be removed and replaced regularly.

Why Biotopo consciously chooses this product

At Biotopo, we breed our own fruit flies for our poison dart frogs. We therefore know how much damage mites can cause to a feeder insect culture and how important it is to contain their spread in good time.

We deliberately choose No-Mite exclusively as the powder for mite control around fruit fly cultures. In our experience, the combination of diatomaceous earth, herbs, and ease of use makes it the best fit for this application. For this reason, we do not offer comparable powders from other brands in this product category.

How to use with fruit flies

Place one teaspoon of powder into an empty, dry container. Add the fruit flies, close the container, and shake gently until all the fruit flies are coated with a thin layer.

Next, sift the fruit flies to remove excess powder and dead mites. Then, transfer the treated fruit flies to the new culture. Never return used powder to the original packaging, as it may contain dead mites or other debris.

The product may be used regularly when establishing new cultures. However, do not feed the powder directly to your animals.

Use around plant pots and animal enclosures.

Dust the dry shelf or surface where you keep your fruit fly cultures with a thin layer. Replace this powder when setting up new cultures or as soon as it becomes damp.

The powder can also be applied to contaminated substrate areas in suitable enclosures for animals such as snakes, lizards, tortoises, birds, and rodents. Always use a thin layer and prevent animals or people from inhaling a visible cloud of dust.

Use safely and store in a dry place.

Prevent dust formation during dosing. Do not inhale the fine powder and avoid contact with the eyes. Use in a well-ventilated area, wash your hands after use, and keep the packaging out of the reach of children.

Store the product in a dry place and keep the container tightly closed. It will remain usable for a very long time provided no moisture enters the packaging. Always use a clean, completely dry spoon for dispensing, and close the jar immediately after use.
