Light is one of the most important factors for a lush and stable terrarium. Mosses, ferns, bromeliads, orchids, climbing plants, and ground covers need sufficient light to grow actively. The JungleDawn LED Bar not only provides plenty of visible light but also a high amount of PAR: the portion of light that plants use for photosynthesis.

This makes this lamp particularly suitable for a tropical terrarium, paludarium, plant terrarium, or bioactive reptile enclosure. You can also use it above a wabi-kusa display or a spacious glass plant display. Plants receive more light even lower down in the enclosure, while green, red, and brown hues are rendered more vividly.

The wide beam helps illuminate the terrarium evenly. Choose a length that matches the width of your terrarium. This will prevent dark corners and provide both tall plants and ground cover with an adequate amount of light.

Connect the LED bar to the LumenIZE app via Bluetooth. In the app, you can create a daily lighting schedule, setting the desired light intensity for each time of day. Let the lighting gradually get brighter in the morning, use your desired peak intensity during the day, and gradually dim the light at the end of the day.

This creates a more natural daily rhythm without an abrupt transition from full light to darkness. That makes the space more pleasant to look at and supports a recognizable day-night rhythm. You can also adjust the program to the season, plant growth, or the amount of daylight in the room.

By not keeping the lamp on at maximum power all the time, a carefully set program can also reduce energy consumption. The internal memory helps preserve the programmed settings.

Visible light, UVB, and heat each serve their own purpose

The JungleDawn LED Bar is designed to provide powerful visible daylight and promote plant growth. The lamp does not produce UVB and is not a primary heat source. For animals that require UVB, you should therefore combine this LED lighting with a suitable Arcadia ProT5 UVB Kit. A separate heat lamp or Deep Heat Projector provides heat where needed and creates a suitable basking area.

This division of tasks gives you more control. The Arcadia LumenIZE JungleDawn LED Bar provides bright daylight and energy for plants, the UVB lamp meets the animal’s UVB needs, and the heat source creates the proper temperature gradient. This allows you to precisely tailor the lighting to, for example, geckos, chameleons, tree-dwelling snakes, amphibians, or other inhabitants of a planted enclosure.

LumenIZE products can be connected to each other using separately available connection cables. This allows you to neatly combine a JungleDawn LED Bar with a compatible LumenIZE ProT5 system and control them using the same app.

Which JungleDawn LED Bar is right for your terrarium?

The right model depends on the width and height of the enclosure, the amount of vegetation, and the light requirements of the plant species used. The compact 29-centimeter model is suitable for smaller plant enclosures and wabi-kusa setups. The longer models distribute light evenly across medium-sized to very spacious terrariums and paludariums.

It’s better to choose a lamp that covers a large portion of the terrarium’s width rather than a short, very localized light source. For tall or densely planted enclosures, a more powerful model may be needed to provide sufficient light on the substrate. Be sure to include hiding spots and shaded areas for animals that do not want to be in bright light all the time.

Installation and Daily Use

Mount the light securely above the enclosure and ensure adequate ventilation around the fixture. Although the housing is water-resistant, do not submerge the LED bar. After installation, check how the light is distributed over the plants and resting areas. If you have sensitive plants or animals, start with a lower light intensity if necessary and gradually increase it.
