The Arcadia Ceramic Heat Lamp is a lightless heat source designed to raise and maintain the temperature in a terrarium. The ceramic heater emits infrared heat but produces no visible light and no UVA or UVB. This makes the lamp suitable for use during the day and on cold nights, without disturbing your pet’s natural dark resting period with red or bright light.
The heat lamp is available in 50, 100, and 150 watts. This allows you to adjust the wattage based on the size of the enclosure, the ambient temperature, and the heating needs of your terrarium pet. All models feature a standard E27 socket and a discreet black finish.
Arcadia Ceramic Heat Lamp for heat without visible light
A ceramic heat lamp converts electrical energy into radiant heat that you can feel. The Arcadia Ceramic Heater primarily emits IR-C radiation, making it particularly suitable for ambient heat, nighttime heating, and supplemental heating. Because it emits no visible light, the terrarium remains dark when the lamp is active at night.
This makes the lamp suitable for reptiles and other terrarium animals that require a minimum temperature even outside of normal lighting hours. Examples include geckos, snakes, lizards, tortoises, and various tropical species. The lamp can also help maintain the temperature in an enclosure when the room temperature drops in winter.
For diurnal sunbathers such as bearded dragons, a light-emitting basking lamp or another suitable primary heat source usually remains important. For these species, a ceramic heater is primarily a practical supplement to maintain background temperature or provide warmth during cold nights.
Choose from 50, 100, and 150-watt
. Which model you need depends not only on the terrarium’s volume. Ventilation, room temperature, mounting height, and the desired heat zone also play a role.
The 50-watt model is generally suitable for smaller enclosures and situations where only limited additional heat is needed. The 100-watt version is suitable for medium-sized terrariums or for spaces where a greater temperature difference needs to be bridged. The 150-watt version offers the highest power output for larger enclosures and cooler conditions.
Arcadia provides the measured temperatures listed below as a guide. The actual temperature in your terrarium may vary depending on its layout, ventilation, and surroundings.
| Distance from heat source | 50 watts | 100 watts | 150 watts |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 cm | 58 °C | 65 °C | 71 °C |
| 20 cm | 47 °C | 50 °C | 52 °C |
| 30 cm | 36 °C | 40 °C | 42 °C |
| 40 cm | 30 °C | 38 °C | 40 °C |
Therefore, do not base your decision solely on this table. Always measure the final temperature at the animals’ height and let the thermostat automatically limit the heat.
Lightless terrarium heater for day and night
Because the Arcadia Ceramic Heat Lamp does not produce visible light, you can control the temperature independently of the terrarium lighting. During the day, the daylight and UVB lamps operate according to the set lighting schedule. When this lighting turns off, the ceramic heat lamp can maintain a lower nighttime temperature if necessary.
This lamp is not a substitute for UVB lighting. Reptiles that require UVB must also have an appropriate UVB system. Visible daylight is also important for encouraging natural sunbathing behavior. The ceramic heater therefore serves a clear purpose within the overall setup: providing reliable supplemental heat without additional light.
E27 socket and pulse-proportional temperature control
Use the Arcadia Ceramic Heat Lamp in a heat-resistant ceramic E27 socket. It is recommended to use this lamp with a pulse-proportional thermostat. This thermostat regulates the current in short pulses and is therefore suitable for a non-luminous ceramic heat source. A standard dimming thermostat is intended primarily for dimmable, luminous heat lamps and a Deep Heat Projector.
Place the thermostat sensor in a representative location within the heated zone. In addition, regularly check with a separate digital thermometer or infrared thermometer to ensure that the set temperature is actually being reached.

Instructions for use
Place the Arcadia Ceramic Heat Lamp in a suitable ceramic E27 socket and use a protective cage when the lamp is hanging within the animal’s reach. Regulate the heat with a pulse-proportional thermostat and monitor the temperature at animal height. A stone or slate placed under the heater can absorb heat and gradually release it into the surroundings.
